Here are the Qualifications of National and Local Candidates in Philippine Elections
I. National level
A. For President and Vice-President
- Natural-born citizen
- At least 40 years old on the day of the election
- Able to read and write
- Registered voter; and
- Resident of the Philippines for at least 10 years
immediately preceding the day of the election
B. For Senator
- Natural-born citizen;
- At least 35 years old on the day of the election;
- Able to read and write;
- Registered voter; and
- Resident of the Philippines for not less than two years immediately preceding the day of the election
II. Local Level
A. For District Representatives
- Natural-born citizen;
- Registered voter in the district in which he shall be elected;
- Resident of the same district for a period not less than one year immediately preceding the day of the election;
- Able to read and write; and
- At least 25 years old on the day of the election
B. For Governor, Vice Governor, Mayor, Vice-Mayor, Punong Barangay and Sangguniang Members
- Citizen of the Philippines;
- Registered voter in the barangay, municipality,
city, or province or, in the case of a member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Sangguniang Panlungsod, or Sangguniang Bayan, the district where he intends to be elected; - Resident therein for at least one year immediately preceding the day of the election;
- Able to read and write Filipino or any other local language or dialect
